Privacy & safety

Take back your privacy.

Communities like yours have always understood discretion. The platforms they were forced to live on never did. AltHost is built so that privacy and safety are structural: guaranteed by how the system works, not promised in a settings page.

Verification

Verified adults, no paper trail.

Every member of every AltHost community passes age verification before they can participate. The check itself is designed to leave nothing behind: source images are deleted after processing, and we keep only the verification result. Never your ID, never your selfie.

How a member joins

  • Verify once; the result travels across every AltHost community
  • Documents are processed, then deleted
  • Members choose the name their community sees
  • Operators see membership status, never documents

The bargain

What we never do

Most platforms are data businesses with a community attached. AltHost is the opposite: you pay for the platform, so your members are never the product.

  • No ads, ever

Your members' attention is not for sale. There is no ad inventory on AltHost, so there is no reason to profile anyone.

  • No data brokers

Member data is never sold or shared with brokers or advertisers. It exists to run your community and for nothing else.

  • No anonymous blacklists

We don't run platform-wide ban lists. Safety reports are attributable, appealable, and scoped to the community where they're made.

  • No paywalled safety

Verification, reporting, blocking, and moderation tooling ship on every plan, at every price. Safety is not an upsell.

The safety model

  • Reports are attributable: made by someone, about something
  • Every report can be appealed
  • Findings stay scoped to the community where they're made
  • Moderation tooling is included on every plan

Safety

Safety without surveillance.

Real safety comes from accountable process, not from watching everyone all the time. Operators get real moderation tooling, members get due process, and end-to-end encrypted messaging is being built so that not even AltHost can read private conversations. That last one is in progress, and we'll say so plainly until it ships.

Ownership

Your data is yours.

Every AltHost community runs as its own application with its own database. Your member list belongs to you and you can export it at any time. Support access to your deployment is purpose-bound and audited. If you ever leave, you take your community with you.

Privacy your members can feel

Bring your community somewhere it's safe to be itself.
