Placeholder — not yet reviewed by counsel
This is an early working draft, published for transparency while AltHost is in early access. It is not final and will be replaced by a counsel-reviewed version before general availability. Questions? hello@althost.network
1. Overview
AltHost is built for communities where privacy is not a preference — it is a requirement. This policy describes what we collect, why, and the commitments we make about it. It applies to althost.network and the AltHost applications and services (together, the “Services”).
2. Information we collect
- Account information — email address, display name or handle, and profile details you choose to add.
- Verification data — handled as described in Section 3.
- Membership and activity data — communities you join, applications you submit, events you register for, and content you post.
- Payment information — handled by payment providers; AltHost receives confirmations and transaction metadata, not full card numbers.
- Technical basics — device, log, and diagnostic data needed to run and secure the Services.
3. Age and identity verification
Verification is performed against government-issued ID and/or a selfie check, processed by us or a specialist verification partner. Source images are deleted after processing. We retain the verification result (verified or not, and which checks passed) and the minimal audit metadata needed for compliance — not your documents. Community operators see your verification status, never your documents.
4. How we use information
We use personal information to operate and improve the Services, to run verification and safety systems, to process payments, to communicate with you, and to meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising.
5. How information is shared
- With communities you join — operators see the membership information relevant to their community: your profile, application answers, membership status, and event registrations.
- With service providers — verification, payment, and infrastructure partners under contract, limited to what their function requires.
- For legal reasons — where required by law, or to protect the safety of any person.
- Never — sold to data brokers or advertisers.
6. Messaging and encryption
End-to-end encrypted member messaging is in active development. Until it ships, treat in-platform messages as encrypted in transit and at rest but technically readable by the platform under narrow, audited circumstances (for example, a safety investigation you initiate). When E2E messaging ships, message content will be readable only by participants — not by AltHost — and this policy will be updated to say so precisely.
7. Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. Verification source images are deleted after processing (Section 3). When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify personal information within a defined window, except where retention is legally required.
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to production data is limited, logged, and reviewed. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law — and aim to do so faster than that.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to certain processing. Send requests to hello@althost.network. US state-specific disclosures (California and others) will be included in the counsel-reviewed version of this policy.
10. No one under 18
The Services are strictly for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; verification exists to prevent it. Accounts that fail or circumvent age verification are removed.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Services evolve. If a change is material, we will give notice — by email or in-product — before it takes effect.
